ANAHEIM, Calif.—A 60-year-old administrator at Disneyland’s private Club 33 has died after she fell from a moving golf cart and hit her head at the theme park’s resort in Anaheim, authorities said June 8.
The woman was identified as Bonnye Mavis Lear of Fullerton, according to Orange County coroner’s spokesperson Sgt. Frank Gonzalez.
Paramedics were dispatched at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to the area of West Ball Road and South West Street regarding a traffic crash that occurred at a backstage area of the theme park, according to Sgt. Jon McClintock of the Anaheim Police Department.
“Upon arrival, police and fire personnel discovered a woman, a Disneyland employee, fell from a moving golf cart and struck her head,” Mr. McClintock said. “The woman was transported to a local hospital in grave condition.”
Ms. Lear died from her injuries on Friday.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye, and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said in a statement provided to City News Service. “At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”
Ms. Lear worked in membership support services at Club 33, a members-only restaurant and lounge located in the New Orleans Square area of the park, according to the OC Register.
