After an extensive week-long search by law enforcement and local residents for a 15-year-old girl who went missing in the Monterey Park area last Tuesday, she was found safe on July 23.

Alison Jillian Chao’s family reported on a website set up to help find her that she was located around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Thank you to the community for your unwavering support and assistance in our efforts in finding Alison,” the family wrote. “This would not been possible without your help and effort! We came together as a community for Alison.”

Local television station ABC7 reported Tuesday morning that Alison was spotted by its security guard near its Glendale office—roughly 16 miles away from her home in Monterey Park.

According to the station, a security guard saw the girl walking and noticed that she was being trailed by a car, whose driver recognized her as the missing girl and promptly notified law enforcement.

Alison was last seen leaving her home at approximately 5:30 p.m. on July 16 from the 200 block of North Ynez Avenue in Monterey Park, according to the Monterey Park Police Department.

Surveillance footage captured her riding a blue mountain bike and carrying a black backpack as she headed to her aunt’s house in San Gabriel, but she never arrived, police said.

Monterey Park police Sgt. Rudy Contreras confirmed to The Epoch Times that the girl was located this morning by the Glendale Police Department and is currently “doing well.” However, he said, due to the ongoing investigation, no additional details are available at this time.

The Epoch Times reached out to the family for more information.
