Six people were arrested and narcotics and firearms were seized the last week of March during a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department crime sweep dubbed Operation Consequences.
Between March 23 and March 29, investigators from the sheriff’s gangs and narcotics division, along with deputies, served nine search warrants and contacted suspects in Hesperia, Highland, San Bernardino, and Ontario during the operation.
As a result, 2.5 pounds of illegal drugs were recovered as well as 170 firearms, including two ghost guns, according to a sheriff’s department advisory posted April 1 on its website.
The operation, funded by the county’s board of supervisors, focused on crime suppression in the High Desert region, which includes San Bernardino, Highland, Hesperia, Ontario, and other cities in the county.
Those involved in the operation include sheriff’s department gangs and narcotics investigators, the Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the federal Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
The sheriff’s department plans to continue the crime sweeps this year, according to the advisory.
“Operation Consequences will take place over the next several months to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing, and trafficking firearms,” the department said.
