A suspect is in custody Dec. 14 in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man aboard a Metro E Line train in the University Park area.
Officers reported to the Los Angeles Trade Technical-College (LATTC)/Ortho Institute station in the 2400 block of South Flower Street near Adams Boulevard regarding a radio call of an “assault with a deadly weapon,” at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and took Jalil Sosa Illera to a hospital, where he later died, police said.
The LAPD released security images of the wanted man the next day. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, standing 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He wore glasses and was dressed in a black sweatshirt with white lettering on the front, light blue jeans, and black shoes, according to the police.

Investigation revealed that Mr. Carrillo-Martinez and Mr. Illera were involved in an altercation on the train, police said. During the altercation, Mr. Carrillo-Martinez stabbed the victim, leading to his death.
On Thursday morning, LAPD announced that the 19-year-old suspect, Carlos Carrillo-Martinez, a Los Angeles resident, turned himself in to authorities. He admitted to being the suspect on the flyer and was booked into jail, police said.
His bail was set at $2 million.
