A suspect is in custody Dec. 14 in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man aboard a Metro E Line train in the University Park area.

Officers reported to the Los Angeles Trade Technical-College (LATTC)/Ortho Institute station in the 2400 block of South Flower Street near Adams Boulevard regarding a radio call of an “assault with a deadly weapon,” at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and took Jalil Sosa Illera to a hospital, where he later died, police said.

The LAPD released security images of the wanted man the next day. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, standing 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He wore glasses and was dressed in a black sweatshirt with white lettering on the front, light blue jeans, and black shoes, according to the police.
