The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) identified a 31-year-old man Oct. 24 suspected of lighting an American flag on fire on a flagpole at a Topanga-area home.
On Monday at about 10:45 p.m., Los Angeles Police detectives arrested Kevin Miller, 31, on an arson charge, according to the LAPD. His bail was set at $250,000, according to police and he was booked at the Van Nuys Jail.
Police had asked for the public’s help in catching a suspect seen at about 8 p.m. Oct. 21 lighting a flag on fire at a home on the 23000 block of Welby Way in the Topanga area, located west of Los Angeles near the coastal city of Malibu.
At about 8 p.m. police had responded to a report of arson at the property.
According to authorities, a suspect walked onto the victim’s property and ignited the American flag attached to the residence by a flagpole.
The suspect fled from the location on foot, police reported.
