Police had asked for the public’s help in catching a suspect seen at about 8 p.m. Oct. 21 lighting a flag on fire at a home on the 23000 block of Welby Way in the Topanga area, located west of Los Angeles near the coastal city of Malibu.
At about 8 p.m. police had responded to a report of arson at the property.
According to authorities, a suspect walked onto the victim’s property and ignited the American flag attached to the residence by a flagpole.
The suspect fled from the location on foot, police reported.
