A 56-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Feb. 14 in Los Angeles’s Chinatown by a suspected DUI driver, with a second vehicle possibly involved, KTLA reported.
The predawn incident took place on the 600 block of North Broadway between Hill and Spring streets, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service. Police responding to the scene around 2:30 a.m. found the man in the street and declared him dead.
Police said the first car was northbound on Broadway when it hit the pedestrian. The driver went around the block and returned to the scene.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
However, the driver said a second vehicle hit the victim and drove away without rendering aid, although no information has been released about the second vehicle or the possible identity of the driver.
