San Francisco is revising how it responds to street homelessness after years of rising costs and uneven results. The city is placing more emphasis on recovery based programs that bring structure and accountability alongside shelter. In this episode, we speak with Steve Adami, executive director of The Way Out, a recovery focused homelessness initiative in San Francisco, and Major Michael Zielinski, division commander of the Golden State Division of The Salvation Army, to examine how this model works day to day and what it changes for people trying to leave the street behind.
