Revisit Your Resolutions
For most people, New Year’s resolutions are all but a distant memory by July. Regardless, it can be beneficial to think back to January 1 and recall the goals you deemed most important to aim for. If you’ve achieved or integrated them—great job! But if they’re still on the to-do list, now is a great time to begin to make incremental progress toward them.
Prepare for the ‘Ber Months
September, October, November, and December—they’re festive, they’re thrilling, they’re jam-packed, and they fly by in the blink of an eye. Take the time now—perhaps poolside while leisurely sipping lemonade—to brainstorm what you hope to experience, need to remember, want to prepare, and wish to accomplish during these busy months.
Assess Your Relationships
Many people have lamented the loss or dwindling of personal relationships during the past few years. Take time before summer ends to nurture the relationships you hold dear. Reach out to friends and family, show love, care, and support to others, deliver treats to your neighbors, volunteer in your community, or simply improve the quality of the time you spend with your immediate family.
Schedule Something Fun
Having something fun on the calendar to look forward to adds a little sparkle to life. What’s something purely fun that you can share with others that you would truly enjoy? Perhaps you’ll sign up for a class with a friend, take up a new sport, schedule an afternoon walk once a week, get tickets to a show, or schedule your next family vacation! Look ahead at the rest of the year and make sure you’ve got some fun penciled in.
Let Go
Think about the ideas that have been weighing you down this year so far. Perhaps you’re worried about how things will turn out with one thing or another. Perhaps you are holding onto bitterness or anger towards someone else. Perhaps you’ve avoided taking action toward an important goal or decision.
Lock In
Often, we get to the midpoint of the year and wish we would have gotten a bit more done or taken care of. Summer is a great time to lock in and focus on getting things done. Would the rest of the year go more smoothly if you finally cleaned out the garage, created a budget, responded to those phone calls or emails, or initiated that big project you’ve been putting off?
