Deputies are searching for a man who stole a car with a 2-year-old inside in eastern San Diego County, Sheriff’s Department officials said on March 5.
The theft victim reported his car stolen with his daughter inside just before 6 p.m. in the 500 block of Sweetwater Road in Spring Valley, said a statement from the sheriff’s department.
Deputies found the car about a half-mile away at the intersection of Jamacha and Sweetwater roads when they arrived, according to authorities. The girl was found unharmed in her car seat and reunited with her parents.
Witnesses who were at the intersection said they saw a bald black man in a white shirt who fled from the car. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The incident is being investigated as a kidnapping and auto theft case.
