MONROVIA, Calif.—Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in Monrovia.
Monrovia police responded to the shooting call at 9:22 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of West Duarte Road, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Prior to the shooting, there was a disturbance between several individuals that led to the victim being shot in the upper body, according to sheriff’s investigators.
“The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival,” according to a sheriff’s department statement. “Several witnesses are on scene and being interviewed.”
Paramedics took the shooting victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
There was no other immediate information.
A news videographer at the scene reported the victim was shot in the neck, and that a suspect was taken into custody, but there was no immediate confirmation from authorities of any arrests.
