A man on probation suspected of stabbing two German tourists near the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced May 21.

Larry Ameyal Cedeno, 29, was to be arraigned Wednesday at the Airport Courthouse. The charges include allegations that he used a knife and caused great bodily injury to the victims, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Cedeno was arrested around 8 p.m. Sunday shortly after the stabbings in the 1500 block of Fourth Street, near Broadway and Parking Structure 7, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Cedeno was on probation for larceny, police said.
