A man was killed and six rushed to a hospital Feb. 25 after a multi-vehicle crash in Reseda, about 25 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

One driver involved is now facing murder charges.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) said firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene at 11:18 a.m. at 18153 West Vanowen Street.

Eleven involved in the crash were evaluated at the scene. Six were rushed to a hospital and four declined, according to authorities.

There were at least four vehicles involved in the crash and two additional parked vehicles, police said.

According to the LAPD, upon arrival paramedics found one driver, trapped in a car, was deceased. Two others, authorities said, needed to be extricated from their vehicles.

The decedent, identified as Francisco Velasco-Marcos, 32, had been driving a yellow Chevrolet Camaro at a high speed alongside a white Dodge Charger eastbound on Vanowen Street approaching Chimineas Avenue.

“The Dodge changed lanes and collided with the Chevrolet, causing both vehicles to lose control and collide with multiple vehicles,” the LAPD said.

The driver of the Dodge, Nicolas Velasco Marcos, 21, from Reseda, was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before he was booked at the Van Nuys Jail on suspicion of murder. His bail was set at $2 million.

Authorities have asked anyone with more information to call Valley Traffic Division Detective Otrosina at (818) 644-8036, Officer Sison at (818) 644-8022 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
