Costco shoppers will have more places to pick up mega packs of paper towels and a $1.50 hot dog combo after the warehouse chain opens five more locations before summer.
The wholesale retailer headquartered in Washington is moving ahead with store openings in Texas, California, and Utah in March and April.
A new warehouse is scheduled to open in Liberty Hill, Texas, on March 11 in Texas Hill Country, about 35 miles northwest of Austin. The nearly 160,000-square-foot location will have a full gas station, tire center, pharmacy, and food court.
Another warehouse in Texas is expected to open March 12 in Forney, about 20 miles from Dallas. Some residents in Forney expressed concerns about traffic from the new shopping destination affecting already congested streets on social media, but city officials in Forney said Costco’s plans meet development requirements.
“While we understand that some residents may not view this as an ideal location, as long as a development meets zoning requirements and complies with city ordinances, then developers can move forward,” the city posted on Facebook on July 22, 2025. “We look forward to the partnership and are confident that Costco will be a popular shopping destination for residents.”
A third Texas location in New Braunfels, about 50 miles south of Austin, is scheduled to open in April.
When the newest Texas warehouses open, the state will have 41 Costco stores.
Another warehouse to open this month is slated for South St. George, Utah. The 160,000-square-foot store would be the second one for the city of about 87,000 residents. The city’s first one opened almost 25 years ago. Once opened, Utah will have 15 Costco stores.
In California, Costco plans to open another warehouse store in North Visalia next month, though an exact date has not yet been revealed. This will be the second Costco in Visalia, a city of about 140,000 people in the state’s San Joaquin Valley, about 45 minutes south of Fresno.
Costco also opened a warehouse in West Roseville in Northern California in January.
In all, California will have 136 Costco stores after April’s opening.
The new warehouses will add to the 924 sites operating globally. Costco has 634 warehouses in the United States and Puerto Rico, 114 in Canada, 42 in Mexico, 37 in Japan, 29 in the United Kingdom, 20 in Korea, 15 in Australia, 14 in Taiwan, seven in China, five in Spain, three in France, two in Sweden, and one each in Iceland and New Zealand.

Costco also operates online sites in the United States, Canada, the UK, Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Australia.
The corporation continues to bring in shoppers, earning $21.33 billion in January—a 9.3 percent increase from last year.
