81-Year-Old Woman Sexually Assaulted at Home in Pacoima

LOS ANGELES—A 22-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in Pacoima was arrested April 3.

Walker Gabriel Muniz, allegedly entered the victim’s apartment around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday on the 12600 block of Pierce Street near Glenoaks Boulevard, after knocking on her door, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Once inside the apartment, Mr. Muniz sexually assaulted the victim, police said. The attack was recorded by a home security camera.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where a sexual assault examination was conducted, police said.

Foothill Division detectives took Mr. Muniz into custody on Friday. He was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center for kidnapping with the intent to commit rape. His bail was set at $2.1 million.
