Troy Terry scored twice, including the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, and the Anaheim Ducks held on for a 3–2 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night, Jan. 27, in Saint Paul, Minn.
Ryan Strome also scored for Anaheim, which earned at least one point for the third straight game. Adam Henrique finished with a pair of assists.
Kirill Kaprizov and Jon Merrill scored one goal apiece for Minnesota, which has lost two straight. Mats Zucarrello contributed two assists.
Ducks goaltender John Gibson stopped 35 of 37 shots to earn the victory.
Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson made 22 saves on 25 shots.
Terry delivered the tiebreaking goal to put Anaheim on top 3–2 with 8:20 left in the third period. He came out of the penalty box and scored on a rebound for his 14th of the season.
The sequence solidified Terry’s second multiple-goal performance this season. The 26-year-old notched a hat trick against the Arizona Coyotes on Nov. 1.
Minnesota opened the scoring 6:39 into the first period.
Zuccarello fired a shot from the left circle that Gibson turned aside. The rebound caromed to the right circle for Kaprizov, who capitalized by burying a shot for his 19th goal of the season.
The play moved Kaprizov into fourth place in franchise history with 133 goals. He surpassed Jason Zucker and trails Marian Gaborik (219), Mikko Koivu (205) and Zach Parise (199).
Anaheim evened the score at 1–1 less than two minutes later. Terry got the puck in front of the net and lifted a wrist shot over Gustavsson’s right shoulder.
The Wild regained a 2–1 advantage with 1:23 remaining in the first .
Merrill parked near the front of the blue line and ripped a shot through traffic for his second goal of the campaign.
The Ducks pulled even at 2–2 with 13:15 to go in the third. Radko Gudas flipped a long shot toward the net that did not make it through, and Strome found the loose puck and punched it in for his sixth goal.
