President Donald Trump will meet with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday during Trump’s visit to the city for the United Nations General Assembly.

A spokesperson for Mamdani said the meeting will take place at Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residence, ahead of the U.N. assembly. The meeting will focus on issues affecting the city and New Yorkers, the spokesperson said, without providing specifics.

Mamdani, who ran as a democratic socialist, first visited the White House to meet with Trump on Nov. 21, 2025, as mayor-elect. The two traded criticism after Mamdani defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for last year’s the Democratic nomination.

The mayor’s second meeting with Trump took place at the White House in February, which he described as productive. ​​Mamdani spokesman Joe Calvello said at the time the mayor pitched for federal investment to build 12,000 housing units in the city.

“The president was very enthusiastic about this idea,” Calvello said.

The White House did not comment.

Mamdani also posted a photo with Trump following the meeting, showing the president holding two Daily News front pages—a mock one stating “Trump to City: Let’s Build” and a copy of a 1975 print that said “Ford to City: Drop Dead.” The latter refers to President Gerald Ford, who served from 1974 to 1977 after President Richard Nixon’s resignation and refused to provide a federal bailout for New York City.
