One Killed When Metrolink Train Strikes Car in Los Angeles

SUN VALLEY, Calif.—One person was killed May 16 when a Metrolink train struck a vehicle in the Sun Valley area.

The crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. near Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Raymer Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Responding crews found the mangled vehicle on the scene, and one person was reported to be trapped in the wreckage.

Fire officials quickly determined the person in the vehicle had died at the scene.

According to Metrolink, the train that struck the vehicle was heading from downtown Los Angeles to Moorpark on the Ventura County Line.

The tracks were closed between Burbank Airport and Van Nuys due to the crash. There were no immediate reports of any injuries aboard the train.
