LOS ANGELES—Three masked suspects were arrested in a series of alleged residential burglaries throughout Los Angeles County, police said on Sept. 20.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), three suspects allegedly committed at least three separate residential burglaries on Sept. 16 in Studio City and were seen on surveillance cameras smashing sliding glass doors behind the homes and entering the properties.
Police said the suspects ransacked the properties and took jewelry, handbags, and other valuables before fleeing the locations in a Black 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio with a stolen license plate.
A preliminary investigation revealed three suspects had allegedly stolen a designer handbag from one of the homes. A concealed tracking device was inside the bag, according to police.
Police said a victim contacted detectives after tracking down the suspects and allegedly witnessing them committing another burglary at a residence in Mar Vista before fleeing the location.
Responding officers followed the suspects using the tracking the device, which led them to an apartment complex in Inglewood, police said.
“With the assistance of the LAPD’s Air Support Division, a tactical flight officer observed suspects attempting to pry open a safe that was taken in the Mar Vista burglary,” according to a police statement.
Police set up a perimeter to contain the suspects, who were eventually arrested on Friday.
Detectives identified the suspects as Vernon Harvey, 22, Qwaee Wright, 18, and Bobby Bolton, 20. All suspects are residents of Los Angeles.
Further investigation revealed the three suspects were responsible for approximately 20 residential burglaries in West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, according to police.
Police said three firearms were recovered, allegedly taken during additional residential burglaries in the San Fernando Valley, along with the victims’ stolen property.
Anyone with information regarding the residential burglaries was urged to contact the police department’s North Hollywood Burglary Detectives Timothy Kirkpatrick or Gus Ramirez at 818-754-8377. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. During non-business hours or weekends, calls should be directed to 877-527-3247.
