MALIBU, Calif.—A 30-year-old woman was killed when she apparently lost control of her crossover SUV on Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu, struck a parked vehicle and a power pole then plunged over the side of a cliff, authorities said March 15.
The crash was reported around 9:45 p.m. Thursday in the 3600 block of Pacific Coast Highway, near Mulholland Drive and Leo Carrillo State Beach.
Authorities said the woman’s Honda Pilot swerved across the highway for unknown reasons and hit a parked Toyota, then struck a power pole and careened over the cliff. The woman was ejected as her car rolled down the cliff.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the victim as Vivien Huerta-Guimont Friday.
Two other people were injured when Ms. Huerta-Guimont’s vehicle struck the parked car, and they were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, officials said.
It was unknown if drugs, alcohol, or speeding contributed to the crash.
