A man was charged March 7 in Santa Ana for attempted murder, burglary, and child abuse, leading police on a chase, and other charges.

Antonio Cruz Jr., 49, was accused of robbing and assaulting an adult and a child with a firearm March 5, according to a criminal complaint.

He was charged with one count each of attempted murder, burglary, child abuse, and endangerment, assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and leading police on a chase. He was additionally charged with two felony counts of robbery.

Mr. Cruz also faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm.

He did not enter a plea in his arraignment in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana March 7. His arraignment has been rescheduled for March 26 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Police did not immediately respond to media requests for more information about the case.
