A deadly late-night attack in a residential area of Huntington Beach, California on the Fourth of July left two people dead and others injured, according to local police.
Two people died at the scene and three others were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Several media reports say the incident that occurred just before 11:15 p.m. near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue involved a stabbing, but, according to the police, the information hasn’t been confirmed.
“Our investigators are still on the scene,” Huntington Beach Police spokeswoman Jennifer Carey told The Epoch Times “We’re still trying to figure all of that out ourselves.”
Although the city’s police and fire departments are withholding most information related to the case, one person was arrested at the scene, according to Ms. Carey.
Police arrest records show Logan Kelley, 26, of Huntington Beach, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Thursday and charged with murder and attempted murder.
Police would not confirm if Mr. Kelley was arrested in connection to the incident.
Huntington Police say they responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, officers found several people with significant injuries, the department posted on X.
Detectives will continue to interview witnesses and investigate the circumstances of the violent attack Friday, Ms. Carey said.
