WASHINGTON—First Lady Melania Trump announced special guests—two students who benefited from her Be Best Fostering the Future initiative—she invited to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Feb. 24.

The president also invited Erika Kirk, wife of slain conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, and will call on Americans to reject political violence, according to an X post from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Ten-year-old Everest Nevraumont from Austin, Texas, and Sierra Burns from Greenville, South Carolina, were selected to sit in the first lady’s box for the president’s speech.

“Sierra and Everest embody my ongoing mission to uplift America’s foster youth and expand opportunity for our next generation through education and technology,” the first lady said in a statement.

“I am proud to have them join me at this historic event.”

Burns—who rose from the foster system to graduate from Winthrop University—received support from the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence Program and is now a passionate foster care advocate pursuing a master’s degree in advocacy and social policy at Furman University.

A three-time Texas state champion in history, Nevraumont excels in her studies at Alpha School, where she focuses on artificial intelligence and using technology to personalize learning experiences.

She is an avid public speaker who gave a TedX presentation about her findings.

Melania Trump has prioritized support for foster youth, leading efforts to establish the Fostering the Future initiative—with platforms at the University of Alabama, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Texas, among others nationwide—and securing $30 million to house young Americans in foster programs.

She also led a coalition to educate students about technology, hosting a Zoom workshop with K–12 classes in 2,600 schools across the country, in addition to launching the Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge.

“Sierra and Everest represent the young people across America whose personal experience, drive, and self-motivation reflect the goals of my Be Best Fostering the Future initiatives,” the first lady said.

The president also invited a family that benefited from his favored nation prescription drug pricing deal and the launch of the TrumpRX.gov website.

A waitress from Pennsylvania and her family, who will save more than $5,000 after the president pushed through his no tax on tips campaign promise, will also be in attendance.

Other unnamed guests included “military members” and “patriotic Americans,” Leavitt told reporters at the White House on Tuesday.
