Amtrak California Zephyr
This long route runs between Chicago and San Francisco and cuts straight through the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada, two remarkable mountain ranges, especially in the winter. This three-day adventure features views of snow-capped mountains, rivers, canyons, deserts, cities, and mountain towns.
The blanket of snow that is present in the winter makes this trip magical, and gives travelers a look into the most scenic landscapes in the U.S. This train is particularly special, as it allows guests to see places that would be otherwise hard to reach. The Zephyr is a fantastic option for those interested in an immersive experience with breathtaking views.
