Gan Jing World launched its first exclusive animated feature film on Sept. 12, marking a milestone for the independent social media and streaming platform as it expands into original content production.
The animated movie “Mina” premiered on both GJW+ and the newly launched Gan Jing Kids platform, the company said Friday. The film is the platform’s inaugural original release in North America following its successful theatrical run.
“We chose Mina as Gan Jing World’s very first exclusive original film release in North America because its story is full of hope and positive values close to our hearts,” said Sherry Yin, CEO of Gan Jing World, at the film’s New York premiere. “We truly hope this film touches the lives of children and families in a meaningful way—especially at a time when the online environment is overwhelmed with unhealthy content.”
The modern fairy tale centers on a headstrong Princess Mina, who is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer but refuses to wait passively for rescue. The story follows both the scholarly Ronan—to whom she’s already promised to marry—and his quest to save her, and Mina’s own efforts to escape captivity alongside other captured princesses.
“This story and its unique characters from diverse cultural backgrounds, stands out from other fairytales,” said Lidia Chirita, producer at Magic Frame Animation, which produced the animated feature alongside Creation Entertainment Media. “Inspired by aspects of some of the most beloved fairytales, the film has so much to offer including an inspiring brave princess, an array of breathtaking locations, spectacular visual effects and a whole lot of action.”
Award-winning director Alex Tsitsilin, known for “The Snow Queen” series, led the project. Writers Analisa LaBianco, who worked on “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” and Jeffery Spencer of “Secret Magic Control Agency” wrote the screenplay.
The voice cast includes Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld, Dan Edwards, and Vanessa Johansson, with original music composed by Sefi Carmel. The film’s production has been described as “a modern fairy tale for a new generation.”
The film’s debut coincides with the official launch of Gan Jing Kids, a new children’s streaming platform designed to provide educational content without addictive algorithms.
“Princess Mina embodies resilience and independence,” Yin explained. “She not only stands strong on her own but also lovingly guides her friends through challenges, always putting their needs before her own. This compassionate spirit perfectly reflects Gan Jing Kids’ mission to nurture kindness, respect, and positive values in every child.”
Gan Jing Kids markets itself as “the safest platform for values-based learning & fun” and employs what the company describes as a triple-layer safety framework. The streaming service offers programming organized by age groups and categories, and organizes content around six educational principles including cognitive development, language skills, storytelling, and STEM learning.
Gan Jing World has positioned itself as an alternative to mainstream social media platforms through its “Technology for Humanity” philosophy, which emphasizes using technology to promote kindness and respect while protecting user privacy.
The platform recently introduced Ethical AI technology designed to create safer online environments. The system uses advanced deep learning models to filter inappropriate content across multiple media formats while prioritizing material that promotes mental well-being.
The AI system includes three modules: Video Quality Rating for image assessment, Inappropriate Content Detection that identifies harmful material with over 90 percent accuracy, and Textual Insights for analyzing tone and sentiment in written content.
“Creating a safe digital environment, especially for the next generation, has been at the heart of Gan Jing World,” the company stated when announcing the technology earlier this year.
The platform’s name translates to “clean” in Chinese, reflecting its commitment to content free from explicit material while encouraging meaningful user engagement through non-addictive algorithms designed to prevent endless scrolling.
In addition to its streaming services, Gan Jing World operates various digital tools including livestreams, polls, and discussion forums. The platform has launched hashtag campaigns such as #KindnessIsCool to foster community connections among users worldwide.
The company has expanded its technology offerings in recent years to include Gan Jing Cloud for secure storage, a privacy-focused browser, and video calling services.
“Mina” is now available exclusively on GJW+ and Gan Jing Kids in North America through both subscription and rental options.
