The FBI said Wednesday that it is conducting “an extensive search along multiple roadways” in the area near Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona home, the day after officials released footage showing a person of interest in the case.

In an X post, the law enforcement bureau announced the search by agents is occurring in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson in connection with the missing woman, who is the mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie.

“We are asking the media and motorists to follow all traffic laws and to remain especially cautious when passing law enforcement personnel near the roadways,” the FBI’s Phoenix office said. “We appreciate the assistance and support we have received from the Tucson community. The FBI continues to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie.”

The 84-year-old grandmother went missing on Jan. 31, prompting officials to later say they discovered a crime scene at her home. DNA testing showed that blood recovered at the woman’s residence belonged to Nancy Guthrie, officials also said.

Since then, no suspects have been identified in the case while several media outlets have claimed they’ve received ransom notes demanding payment and imposing deadlines.

Since the woman disappeared, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have released videos pleading for her return. In a social media post on Tuesday, the “Today” anchor called on the public to report any information to the FBI.

“Someone out there recognizes this person,” she wrote. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”

A small breakthrough in the case came on Tuesday as the FBI released images and video footage of a masked individual seen in front of Nancy Guthrie’s home. The person, who was recorded on a doorbell camera, can be seen attempting to tamper with the camera.

Later on Tuesday, FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that the bureau is looking into multiple persons of interest in the case, coming after the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said that it detained a person for questioning.

“We were able to exploit information pursuant to our private sector partner engagements that showed us that there might be persons of interest in and around the area related to this event,” Patel said in the interview, adding the FBI has made “substantial progress” over the past several days in the case.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump watched the newly released video in “pure disgust” over what he saw, and encouraged anyone with information to call the FBI.

The FBI has posted digital billboards about the case in major cities from Texas to California.

Nancy Guthrie lived alone in the upscale Catalina Foothills neighborhood, where houses are spaced far apart and set back from the street by long driveways, gates, and dense desert vegetation.

Savannah Guthrie grew up in Tucson, graduated from the University of Arizona, and once worked at a television station in the city, where her parents settled in the 1970s. She joined “Today” in 2011. In a video last week, she described her mother as a “loving woman of goodness and light.”
