An independent study challenges long-held assumptions about emissions. In parts of California, natural seeps and aging wells appear to be releasing more methane than modern oil operations, with elevated levels in populated areas. In this episode, Professor James Rector, who conducted the study independently of industry or government funding, explains why removing oil from underground reservoirs may, in some cases, be the most effective way to bring those levels down.
