District Attorney
Incumbent George Gascón, considered by his critics a “soft-on-crime” DA and a contributing factor to LA’s growing public safety concerns, is leading the race, followed by former federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman and 10 other candidates, including five from his office and two Los Angeles County Superior Court judges, in the March 5 primary.

Board of Supervisors
2nd District
Occupying a seat held by black leaders for 30 years, incumbent Holly J. Mitchell is on track to retain her seat, despite a 2021 redistricting moved some largely white neighborhoods such as Manhattan Beach into District 2. Ms. Mitchell’s three challengers are consultant Daphne D. Bradford, business owner and lone white candidate Clint D. Carlton, and nonprofit chief executive Katrina Williams.

4th District
Comes from a famous political family, incumbent Janice Hahn is prevailing over her top competitor, who also enjoys widespread name recognition: former County Sheriff Alex Villanueva. The two registered Democrats are joined in this nonpartisan race by Republican John Cruikshank, mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes.

5th District
Incumbent Kathryn Barger, a rare Republican in Los Angeles County leadership, has a comfortable lead over her four challengers: Assemblyman Chris Holden, Burbank City Councilman Konstantine Anthony, attorney Perry Goldberg, and businessman Marlon Marroquin.
