Dean Cain, the actor widely known for portraying Superman in the 1990s television series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” will soon be sworn in as an honorary officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary and spokesperson for the agency, confirmed Thursday that Cain, 59, is expected to take on the ceremonial role in the coming month. While the specific responsibilities tied to his honorary position have not been disclosed, Cain’s involvement comes as ICE ramps up recruitment efforts following a substantial increase in federal funding.

The announcement coincided with Homeland Security’s move to remove the age cap for new ICE applicants, a change aimed at addressing thousands of agency vacancies. Cain had earlier posted a video to his social media channels encouraging others to consider joining the agency.

“I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it,” Cain stated in the video. “We need your help to protect our homeland and our families.”

During a televised interview with FOX News earlier this week, Cain said he had already served in law enforcement capacities as a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer. He added that he will be sworn in as an ICE officer “ASAP.”

“This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing. I truly believe this is the right thing,” he said.

Born in Michigan and raised in Malibu, California, Cain attended Princeton University, where he played football before an injury ended his professional athletic aspirations. He transitioned to acting in the early 1990s, landing his breakout role as Superman in “Lois & Clark,” which aired from 1993 to 1997.

Beyond his work as Superman, Cain has appeared in a wide variety of television and film roles, including “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!”, “The Broken Hearts Club,” and numerous made-for-TV movies. He has also taken guest roles in later DC Comics adaptations, including “Smallville” and “Supergirl,” further solidifying his place in the franchise’s legacy.
