FRESNO, Calif.—Shen Yun Performing Arts brought 5,000 years of culture to Fresno, California, on Feb. 4 to 5. Audience members were in awe of the performers.

“It was magical. It was spectacular. I loved it,” said Antonia Reyes, assistant director at Tutoring Club.

Jeryl Wiens, a sports physician at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics, said the performers were superb.

“Next to none. They were just excellent,” Mr. Wiens said.

Bob Henderson, business development manager at Convergint Technologies called Shen Yun an “amazing” experience.

“The world is so divided right now, and to come to a production where there’s so much unity, it’s medicine for the soul,” he said.

Shen Yun is based in New York, with a mission to revive genuine traditional Chinese culture, which is divinely-inspired.

“Everything from the orchestra, the live music, and the colorful costumes and the stories are just so rich in history and culture, and I found that so breathtaking,” Ms. Reyes said.

Mr. Henderson said he was touched by the talent and “how unified the dancers are with each other, and they’re just absolutely in sync with each other.”

“I think that the overall experience of seeing that is what’s most touching. All the stories are wonderful,” he added.

Along with story-based dance, myths and legends, Shen Yun also portrays the current persecution of faith in China, where Shen Yun isn’t allowed to perform.

“To see this show basically dance in spite of that persecution—it’s a very poetic and poignant thing,” Ms. Reyes said. “A lot of people can learn from this.”

“I think it’s beneficial for the artistry, for the symbolism, and for the meaning behind it. It brings together a lot of disciplines that are very human,” Mr. Wiens said.
