Man, Woman Charged in Connection With Child Abuse, Torture in Anaheim

SANTA ANA, Calif.—A man and woman were charged Aug. 29 in connection with the torture and child abuse of two girls in Anaheim.

Domingo Flores, 33, pleaded not guilty Monday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana to one felony count of torture.

Mayra Corina Chavez, 33, was scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 30 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. Flores and Chavez were being held on $500,000 bail, according to jail records.

According to the criminal complaint, one girl was allegedly tortured in August 2021. Both girls were victims of child abuse in January 2018, the complaint alleges.

Chavez listed her occupation as event coordinator and Flores’s job is detailer, according to jail records.

Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer referred questions to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, which did not immediately respond to a request for details.
