Shen Yun Performing Arts wrapped up four performances in Udine, Italy, on Jan. 9 and 10, taking audiences on a journey through 5,000 years of ancient Chinese culture. Audience members described how they felt after watching the show.
“Very interesting, both the choreography and the set design are truly beautiful. Everything is very interesting. Beautiful,” said April Lozano, a former choreographer. “Being a former choreographer, even after years have passed, I draw even more inspiration. Everything touches the soul; dancing is life. As a choreographer, this performance gives me life; it gives me a zest for life.”
“The show was truly exciting. Beautiful to watch. It was the first time I had seen a show like this. I was amazed by the coordination the performers had, by the synchronism, and then also by the integration of the virtual world with the real one, which was a very interesting thing to see,” said Giuseppe Dametto, a business owner.
“It was wonderful. It was impressive, beautiful, unpredictable, but I was more enthusiastic about what [Shen Yun] did. It’s a great team of perfection and quality,” said Sergio Fraccaro, an accountant. “I felt part of the team, part of this event, and also part of the enthusiasm that all the performers had, as well as the quality of the movements and the perfection.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006, on a mission to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism.
Gaia Perissinotto, an artist, said, “The performance used pastel colors, which are mainly delicate. Actually, the feelings I had, for example, about one of my works that could be inspired by this, are feelings of energy, strength, and determination.”
Mr. Dametto said, “You can truly breathe what inspires a millennia-old civilization, and it all comes through. You can understand that it is something that comes from centuries and centuries of history.”
Alessandra Simionato, an accountant, said, “They are very talented, they are Divine, that when they dance, they are suspended in the air as if they were gods.”
China’s rich cultural heritage draws on themes of spirituality, morality, and goodness triumphing over evil.
“This is the only opportunity to show that life and that your values, the Chinese values, are beautiful and that we are losing them,” said Mr. Fraccaro. “I learned that we need to change some habits, bad habits, and adopt the ones that were proposed this evening. Especially as young people.”
Ms. Simionato said, “It was very profound and beautiful because it left a message of peace. The fact that in the end, good triumphs over evil.”
Shen Yun will be performing in Milan, Italy, until Jan. 25.
