Tiffany’s Classic Lens: The Count of Monte Cristo (1934)

October 14, 2024

“The Count of Monte Cristo” from 1934 is an epic adventure film and one of only a few examples of swashbuckling movies starring British actor Robert Donat. It’s an adaptation from the 1846 classic novel, and it’s a great introduction to the story, since it shows the important plot points and captures the story’s essence and core messages. However, adapting it for the screen was a huge undertaking, since the original novel is over 100 chapters long. But once you’ve been captivated by the story, I’m sure you’ll have to read the book.
