LONG BEACH, Calif.—A woman was killed Monday evening in a fire at a one-story house in Long Beach.

Firefighters responded to the 2400 block of Fashion Avenue, near Willow Street and the Long Beach (710) Freeway, around 7:30 p.m. on June 10 regarding a fire with significant smoke and intense flames, according to Long Beach Fire Department Cpt. Jack Crabtree.

Firefighters later discovered an older woman who was pronounced dead at the scene, Mr. Crabtree said.

It was unclear what may have sparked the fire, and the cause was under investigation.
