Former Vice President Kamala Harris said she was “greatly disappointed” and “angered” by former President Joe Biden at points during the 2024 campaign and has not decided whether she will run again in an interview released Oct. 30 on “The Diary of a CEO” podcast.

The interview, which tracked themes in her recently released memoir, “107 Days,” touched on Harris’s relationship with Biden and the behind-the-scenes dynamics. She said their relationship is “complicated” but affirmed they remain on good terms. Harris argued that campaigns and governing teams should avoid zero-sum thinking between a president and vice president.

Harris described a phone call from Biden on the day of her debate with then-candidate Donald Trump, saying, “There were times where Joe Biden greatly disappointed me, and frankly, angered me.”

Harris said the former president called her prior to the debate and wished her good luck before telling her about people who were saying bad things about her. She said it was unnecessary and left her angry, adding that the call left her feeling that “his motivation was all about himself.”

Reflecting on Biden’s own 2024 debate, Harris said, “He didn’t want that debate,” adding she believed he “got talked into it.”

“I could tell something was a little off,” she said of a call with him prior to that debate shortly before he dropped out of the race and Harris became the Democratic nominee.

Harris also defended her decision to enter the 2024 race with little runway.

“I don’t regret running. I wish we had more time,” she said.

When asked whether she regretted not appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast, something her campaign was criticized for, Harris replied, “I definitely regret that we didn’t do it.” She said she wanted to go on the show but that there were a “lot of games being played around scheduling.”

“I wanted to do Joe Rogan’s show,” she said, calling podcasting “a very powerful medium” to reach voters beyond traditional outlets.

Harris recounted her election-night reaction after losing to Trump.

“I was in a state of shock,” she said, comparing the intensity of her emotions to the grief she felt when her mother died. She later added, “We may not have won the election, but our spirit can’t be defeated, because then they really win.”

Pressed on whether she will run again, Harris said she has not made a decision.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I’m focused on the book tour sincerely.”

She characterized the choice to run for office as one that “takes a toll on your family” and said any bid must be about “something that is bigger than yourself.”
